Paralegal studies
What’s on offer for postgraduates?
Paralegal studies is a small and fairly new field that is still finding its feet. Although small, paralegal studies covers an interesting range of sub-disciplines. Paralegal studies includes all sorts of practical and theoretical areas of study which support or comment on the legal system, security, law and justice.
The very small number of postgraduate students are almost exclusively enrolled in coursework programs. There are a limited number of research degrees in paralegal studies offered predominantly in the fields of criminology or justice studies.
Most postgraduate coursework options are designed to provide opportunities for career advancement for people currently working in areas such as defence strategy, law enforcement, criminology, security or forensics. Entry requirements are usually modest or stated in very general terms; however some options require previous industry experience or a related degree.
