There have traditionally been no courses in the VET sector that provide full professional qualifications in accounting. It is still the case that some of the professional bodies require their members to have an approved degree in the field before they are eligible for professional status.
However, some VET sector courses now enable membership of professional bodies. Advanced diploma graduates can now gain professional recognition through the National Institute of Accountants .
In addition, there are advanced diploma courses in accounting that lead to associate membership of other professional associations. Some of these advanced diploma courses also offer pathways into relevant degree study, which will allow you to become a fully qualified accountant.
